On Tuesday, 6 May, the Feast Day of the Holy Great Martyr George and the Holy Martyr Anatolius, His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chișinău and All Moldova, officiated the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the patronal feast of the Diocesan Cathedral of St George in the city of Taraclia, as well as the 75th jubilee anniversary of His Eminence Anatolie, Archbishop of Cahul and Comrat and ruling hierarch of the Southern Diocese.
Concelebrating at the service were: His Eminence Anatolie, Archbishop of Cahul and Comrat, His Eminence Petru, Archbishop of Ungheni and Nisporeni, His Eminence Marchel, Archbishop of Bălți and Fălești, His Eminence Nicodim, Archbishop of Edineț and Briceni, His Eminence Ioan, Archbishop of Soroca and Drochia, His Grace Nicolae, Bishop of Ceadîr-Lunga and diocesan vicar, His Grace Patrocl, Bishop of Dondușeni and diocesan vicar, together with deans, abbots and abbesses, deacons, and a large assembly of faithful.
The liturgical responses were offered by the hierarchical choir of Curchi Monastery, under the direction of conductor Dumitru Buga.
During the service, Metropolitan awarded to Archbishop Anatolie the 1st Class Order of Saint Righteous Prince Stephen the Great, in recognition of his many years of dedicated ecclesiastical service.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the clergy and faithful took part in a procession around the Cathedral, after which a Te Deum of thanksgiving and health was celebrated. Metropolitan Vladimir and the attending hierarchs extended heartfelt congratulations to Vladyka Anatolie on his 75th birthday and his name day, and conveyed festal greetings to the faithful of the host parish. Church orders and medals were also presented to several benefactors and supporters of this holy church.
Saint George the Great Martyr is venerated throughout Christendom as the Bearer of Victory – one who, through unwavering love and struggle, offered a priceless example of triumph over sin, falsehood, and everything that may separate us from God.
