On the 26th Sunday after Pentecost (the Sunday of the Holy Forefathers of the Lord), His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, celebrated the Holy and Divine Liturgy at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Lord in Chișinău.
Concelebrating to the Metropolitan were Archpriest Vadim Cheibaș, Metropolitan Secretary and Ecclesiarch of the Cathedral, along with other clergy of the Metropolitan Cathedral.
In the homily, Father Vadim spoke to the faithful about the Kingdom of God, which can dwell in the soul of each one of us. Spiritual advice grounded in patristic teachings was interwoven with examples from the Sunday Gospel passage. The call to the banquet represents God’s invitation to each Christian. Achieving communion with Him and eternal happiness depends on individual attitude and conscience, with each person’s free choice determining their state in the life to come.
The liturgical responses were offered by the mixed hierarchical choir of the Metropolitan Cathedral, conducted by Mrs. Angela Angheni.
This Sunday marked the last day of fasting before the great Feast of the Nativity of the Lord, during which the Church Fathers have permitted the consumption of fish.
