On Sunday, 25 May 2025 — the Sixth Sunday after Pascha — His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Church of Saint Sergius of Radonezh in the village of Lazo, Alava community, Ștefan Vodă district.
In this small locality of just 30 households, His Eminence, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, was joyfully welcomed by Archpriest Nicolae Florinschi, parish priest of the St George the Great Martyr Church in Chișinău, under whose pastoral care this parish is placed, as well as by Archpriest Constantin Portărescu, Dean of Ștefan Vodă district, clergy, and the faithful who had gathered for the Divine Liturgy.
Following the Liturgy, the Metropolitan, together with the clergy and faithful, processed around the church while four festal Gospel readings were proclaimed, concluding with a Te Deum of praise and thanksgiving offered to the Most Holy Trinity and to all Saints.
In recognition of his contribution, and as reported by Fr Nicolae, the church’s benefactor and sacristan, Mr Klim Filippov, was awarded the “St Hierarch Seraphim Chichagov” medal. All those in attendance received icons, prayer booklets, and liturgical calendars as commemorative gifts of this historic event in the life of the village.
