  • Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral, on the 24th Sunday after Pentecost

On the 24th Sunday after Pentecost, 19th November 2017, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau.

The archpastor was assisted at the Service by archpriest Vadim Cheibas, metropolitan secretary and Cathedral Dean, archpriest Veniamin Onu, rector of St. Nicholas Church in Vicenza, Italy, hieromonk Ilie (Nacu), and other priests and deacons, who prayed amidst numerous church-goers gathered in the Cathedral.

The Sunday’s Gospel Reading (Luke 8, 41-56) reminds the Christians about the healing of the woman who had had a flowing of blood for 12 years, and about the rising of the 12 year-old only daughter of Jairus, the rule of the synagogue. The Gospel teaches us the power of faith and the vanity of human efforts outside of Christ, for the woman could not be healed by anybody, although she had spent all her livelihood on physicians, but having faith, only touched the side of Jesus’ garment, and became well. Also, the Jairus’ daughter, although was dead, and everybody who was present, wept and mourned her, rose at the call of Christ, despite the witness’ scepticism and disbelief.

After the Gospel Reading, the praying community participated in the Eucharistic canon and many, including numerous children, partook in the Holy Communion.
