At the meeting of the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, held on April 23, 2024, important decisions were taken regarding the church organization in the region.
Upon hearing the report of His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and all Moldova, which highlighted the need for the establishment of a new diocese within the Orthodox Church of Moldova, it was decided according to the Minutes No. 015 of April 23, 2024, on the establishment of the Diocese of Soroca and Drochia. It will include the parishes, monasteries and monastic settlements of Soroca, Drochia, Floresti and Riscani districts, with residence in Soroca municipality.
Also, within the same decision, His Grace Ioan, Bishop of Soroca and Vicar of the Metropolis of Chisinau and all Moldova, was elected titular Archbishop of the Diocese of Soroca and Drochia.
These decisions respond to the spiritual and organizational needs of the faithful in the region.
