With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, on the eve of the feast of St. Spyridon, the Wonder Worker, a concert dedicated to the winter holidays was organized at the FC Dacia Buiucani Stadium in the capital, for about 100 children with Down Syndrome from the municipality of Chisinau, beneficiaries of A.O. “SUNSHINE” – a republican association for children and adults of all ages with Down Syndrome, as well as children of the Community Center “Speranța” from Ciocana sector of the capital.
The event was attended by: the Mayor of the municipality. Chisinau, Mr. Ion Ceban, the Most Reverend Hieromonk Macarie Crudu, Chairman of the Synodal Sector of Social Activity and Charity of the Metropolis of Moldova and Coordinator of the Social-Missionary Centre “The Icon of the Mother of God, Joy of all those in sorrow” from Chisinau, Mrs. Ala Burlaca, Chairman of the A. O. “SUNSHINE”, interpreter and composer Adrian Ursu, animators, children and their families, and partners of A. O. “SUNSHINE”.
On this occasion, the children of the “Speranța” Community Centre recited poems dedicated to the Nativity of Jesus Christ and performed traditional carols like the angels, who sang on the night when Infant Jesus was born. Likewise, the guests brought joy and comfort to the souls of those present through the verses they recited and the songs they sang, lived in the spirit of love and peace brought by the Birth of Christ in Bethlehem.
During the event, the Chairman of the Synodal Sector for Social Activity and Charity, Most Reverend Hieromonk Macarie delivered the message of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of blessing, congratulations and paternal greeting to those present, giving gifts to all the children present at the celebration.
Sharing the joy of this celebration, Mrs. Ala Burlaca, Chairman of A.O. “SUNSHINE”, expressed her sincere thanks to the management of the Synodal Sector of Social Activity and Charity of the Metropolis of Moldova for the beautiful collaboration and for the generosity constantly shown in recent years towards children with this syndrome.
The Church, together with other institutions and organizations, permanently undertakes and supports effective measures for the development of children and young people with physical and intellectual disabilities, children with autism, children with Down Syndrome and other categories, contributing to preventive medical care, specialized therapies, inclusive education, inclusion within the religious community, etc.
The action was part of the Philanthropic Campaign “At Christmas you become better!” in its 5th edition. The philanthropic actions during the winter holidays (December 2023-January 2024), organized by the Synodal Sector for Social Activity and Charity of the Metropolis of Moldova, are aimed at families with a large number of children or vulnerable people from the municipality of Chisinau, but also from neighboring localities in the country, permanent beneficiaries of the Synodal Sector for Social Activity and Charity .
