On the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost (The Healing of Two Blind Men and a Dumb Man in Capernaum, Matthew 9:27-35), with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, the bishop-vicar, His Eminence Filaret, surrounded by the clergy of the Metropolitan Cathedral, celebrated the Divine Liturgy, which was attended by many faithful.
This Sunday’s Gospel urges us to help the sorrowful, the suffering and the sick. Thus we are urged to grow in becoming the Lord’s mysterious Body, that is the Church, to put our hands, our will, our generosity at his disposal to bring comfort to the sick, the hungry, the poor and all who ask God’s help. And God gives His help to those in need by using the merciful hands of those who obey the Gospel and fulfill the commandments of the Savior’s love in their dealings with their neighbour.
May the Good Lord help us to feel the joy and the holy call to be the hands of Christ’s love, helping our neighbours in suffering, in trouble, in loneliness and in despair.
