Thursday, 21 June, meeting of the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova was held in the Metropolitan Palace.
The discussion was focused on the Government’s approval of the Law on equality and the discontent with it among clergymen and lay believers.
The Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, presided by Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and Moldova, and made of all hierarchs of the Moldovan Orthodox Church – Sava, Bishop of Tiraspol and Dubasari, Anatolie, Bishop of Cahul and Comrat, Petru, Bishop of Ungheni and Nisporeni, Marchel, Bishop of Balti and Falesti, Nicodim, Bishop of Edinet and Briceni, took the following decisions:
- The Synod of the Orthdox Church of Moldova condemns the sin of homosexuality and its propaganda. At the same time, it calls to repentance those who spread this sin.
- The Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova decided to create the Synod Commission for Social and Moral Issues. This Commission will be made of clergymen and lay believers, representatives of all Dioceses of the Orthodox Church of Moldova.
Following the report presented by His Grace Petru, Bishop of Ungheni and Nisporeni, the President of Synod Commission for canonization of saints, the Synod decided to approve the functioning regulation of the mentioned Commission.
