Thursday, 28 August 2025, on the Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, His Eminence Metropolitan prayed in the middle of Chisinau Cathedral parishioners, during the Divine Liturgy.
Together with the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Moldova prayed Archpriest Vadim Cheibaș, Metropolitan Secretary and Cathedral Dean, along with an assembly of priests and deacons who gathered to share in the joy of the Feast.
The Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God is the most eminent of the feasts dedicated to the Most Holy Virgin Mary, the Theotokos.
Holy Scripture does not record anything about the Dormition of the Mother of God. However, the hymns and chants of the Vespers and Matins of the feast reveal the Tradition of the Church in this regard.
The Dormition of the Mother of God is the last of the Great Feasts of the Church year. It reminds us of the vocation of eternal life to which mankind is called.
The liturgical responses were offered by the Cathedral’s mixed choir, conducted by Mrs Angela Angheni.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the multitude of faithful who took part in the celebration received spiritual teaching on the significance of the day and were encouraged to pray to the Most Holy Theotokos for help and intercession before the Righteous and Good Judge.
