O foremost of the Apostles and teachers of the inhabited earth, / intercede with the Master of all / to grant peace to the world and great mercy to our souls.
Troparion, Tone 4
On the Feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, Saturday, 12 July 2025, His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chișinău and All Moldova, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Lord in Chișinău.
The liturgical celebration was adorned by the ordination of Subdeacon Victor Cornea – a graduate of the Orthodox Theological Academy of Moldova, class of 2023 – to the diaconate, for service at the Metropolitan Cathedral.
With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, the homily on the Gospel reading of the day and the lives of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul was delivered by the Metropolitan Secretary, Archpriest Vadim Cheibaș.
“The grace of God transforms the weak into pillars of the Church.”
Saint Peter – a simple fisherman, impulsive and at times fearful (he denied Christ three times) – repented deeply and became the “rock” upon which Christ built His Church.
Saint Paul – a former persecutor of Christians – after his conversion, became a “chosen vessel” and the most tireless preacher of the Gospel to the world.
Through their lives, we see that we are not born saints, but through the grace of God, repentance, faith, and sacrifice, we can become “friends of God” and “apostles to our people.”
