“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”.
Matt 6: 33
On the 3rd Sunday after the Pentecost, 29 June 2025, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of Chișinău and All Moldova, His Grace Bishop Filaret of Căpriana, Vicar Bishop, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Lord in Chișinău.
The Gospel of the day is encapsulated in a single phrase: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). In vain do we labour day and night for things that pass away. In vain do we run aimlessly after useless things that perish along with us. At times we lack even rest, we no longer observe the holy feasts, we fail to find time for church, we no longer pray at home, nor read sacred books, nor visit the sick, nor recall the swiftness of death and the judgement of God. All of us long for more – we dream of wealth, honour, health and a happy life. But of Christian deeds, of prayer, forgiveness, repentance, and of God, most of us forget.
The Holy Fathers urge us to return to God, to prayer, and to the doing of good deeds. God is waiting for us. Let us no longer boast in our own intellect, nor place our hope in our own hands or in this fleeting life. Rather, let us believe in God alone, hope in Him alone, worship Him alone, go to the Church of Christ as often as we can, and through repentance and a Christian life, work the field of our salvation.
