  • Divine Liturgy celebrating 1700 years since the First OEcumenical Council, at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau

Sunday, 1 June 2025, at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Lord in Chișinău, His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chișinău and All Moldova, celebrated the Holy and Divine Liturgy, surrounded by the hierarchs of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, abbots and abbesses, clergy, and a multitude of lay faithful.

This liturgical event marked the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (325–2025), a moment of profound significance in the history and confession of the Orthodox faith.

Participating in the episcopal concelebration were:

    • His Eminence Sava, Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubăsari
    • His Eminence Anatolie, Archbishop of Cahul and Comrat
    • His Eminence Petru, Archbishop of Ungheni and Nisporeni
    • His Eminence Marchel, Archbishop of Bălți and Fălești
    • His Eminence Nicodim, Archbishop of Edineț and Briceni
    • His Eminence Ioan, Archbishop of Soroca and Drochia

    • His Grace Patrocl, Bishop of Dondușeni, Vicar of the Diocese of Edineț and Briceni

Also present were Archpriest Vadim Cheibaș, Metropolitan Secretary, diocesan secretaries, abbots, deans, synodal department heads, abbesses, and numerous believers.

During the sermon, His Grace Bishop Siluan of Orhei, Vicar of the Metropolis, read the message of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, marking the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (325–2025).

Following the Divine Liturgy, a Te Deum service was offered for the health of the hierarchs, clergy, and faithful in attendance, and for all Christians around the world—for peace and prosperity.

In his concluding address, Metropolitan Vladimir emphasised the continuing relevance of the First Ecumenical Council in the life of the Universal Orthodox Church to this day, summarising the decisions adopted at the Council, which remain foundational to the Church’s dogmatic truth.

In the memory of this jubilee liturgy, His Eminence Vladimir offered icons depicting the Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council to all the faithful present.
