Thou hast resembled to the ungodly seeking the precious stone, mighty great Vladimir, sitting on the high throne in the mother of cities, by God-guarded Kiev, tempting and sending to Sarigrad, that he might know for the true faith, and hast found Christ, the stone without price, who chose thee as the second Paul, and hast shaken off in the holy bath the blindness of soul and body. For this we celebrate your fall, your people. Pray that the beginnings of the Russia of your dominion may be saved, O lover of Christ the Emperor, and the multitude of those who rule themselves. Troparion (Tone 4)
On Sunday, July 28, on the feast of St. Vladimir, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Lord in Chisinau.
His Eminence was joined in prayer by His Grace Ioan, bishop of Soroca and Drochia, His Grace Filaret of Căpriana, Vicar Bishop, Protopriest Vadim Cheibais, Metropolitan Secretary, two ministers from the Archdiocese of Argeș (Romanian Patriarchate) and the priests and deacons present at the divine service.
Several veteran sailors, dressed in their old uniforms as they do every year on the last Sunday of July, prayed at the Liturgy.
Also on this blessed occasion, in the metropolitan cathedral came multitudes of faithful church-goers eager to pray on this day with their dear pastor – His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, wishing the Primate many years, strength, God’s help in the not-so-simple arch-pastoral ministry, for the unity of all and reconciliation of the hearts of Christians.
Bishop Ioan, on behalf of the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, priests and faithful, congratulated His eminence, wishing him long and saving years in the Arch-pastoral service at the helm of the Orthodox Church of Moldova.
The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Moldova was ordained with the name Vladimir, in honor of the Holy and Equal-to-the Apostles Prince Vladimir, on November 29, 1987, by the venerable Bishop of Chernivtsi and Bukovina, the Most Reverend Antony (Moskalenko).
