On the 5th Sunday after Holy Pascha, (the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman), His Grace Bishop Filaret of Căpriana served the Divine Liturgy with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, at the Metropolitan Cathedral Nativity of the Lord in Chisinau.
Here is the depth of the mystery of the divine work: Jesus Christ reveals Himself as the MESSIAH to an “ordinary” woman, who belonged to a despised, marginalized nation, categorized as filthy by the rigorous Jews, ruled by selfishness and contempt, to whom, in their exclusivist pride, it seemed that only they could reveal the supreme truth.
Obviously, the Saviour did not reveal Himself in this way by chance, but to show that the last will be first and the first will be last! (Matthew 19:30).
Tradition records that the Samaritan woman became a courageous confessor of the Gospel as a result of this saving conversation and ended her life as a martyr in Rome.
