On Wednesday, 25 October 2023, session of the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova was held at the Metropolitan Residence in Chisinau.
The eparchial hierarchs and vicars of the Orthodox Church of Moldova participated as members of the Synod: Archbishop Sava of Tiraspol and Dubasari, Archbishop Anatoly of Cahul and Comrat, Archbishop Petru of Ungheni and Nisporeni, Archbishop Marchel of Balti and Falesti, Archbishop Nicodim of Edinet and Briceni, Bishop Ioan of Soroca, Metropolitan Vicar, Bishop Siluanof Orhei, Metropolitan Vicar, Bishop Filaret of Căpriana, Vicar of the Diocese of Chișinău and Prot. Vadim Cheibaș, secretary of the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova.
The members of the Synod made a series of decision related to the administrative and disciplinary issues.
Among other, the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova decided on the excommunication of a number of priests for unauthorized abandonment of the church jurisdiction.
