18 September 2022, on the 14th Sunday after Pentecost, the first hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Moldova officiated the Divine Liturgy in Chisinau central Cathedral, amid numerous church-goers and assisted by a big group of clergy.
Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Cathedral Dean and metropolitan secretary, concelebrated to the hierarch.
The Gospel Reading presented the Parable of those invited to the King’s Son’s wedding dinner (Matt. 22: 2-14).
This Parable contains several teachings related to the mystery of salvation in our Lord Jesus Christ, the mystery of the Church, and Christian life. The king who calls his guests to the feast is God – Father. The King’s Son is our Lord Jesus Christ. The wedding dinner is God’s Kingdom. The Bride is the Holy Church, that is, the multitude of people called to salvation and responding to this call by presenting themselves to the Lord’s feast, wearing appropriate clothes – the acts of faith and Christian life.
God calls us to rejoice in the Heavenly Kingdom. All people are called, good or bad, each of them having a potential from God to improve and live holy life. Whenever one answers freely and voluntarily to this divine calling, he or she puts on the bright garment of God’s image. This garment is given to every person during the Sacrament of Baptismal.
It is crucial for every Christian to maintain this bright garment of Christian acts and obedience of the Church’s advice, as there is no other way of salvation than living within the Church and according to its teaching.
