26 June 2022, on the Second Sunday after the Pentecost, His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and all Moldova, officiated the Divine Liturgy in Chisinau Metropolitan Cathedral.
The arch-pastor was assisted at the service by archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Metropolitan Secretary and Cathedral Dean, and the clergy of the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral.
The liturgical responses were provided by the Cathedral Choir directed by Angela Angheni.
The Sunday Gospel Reading referred to the calling of the first Apostles to the mission of preaching of the word of God. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, simple fishermen become vessels of the Lord who called people to salvation, spreading the teaching of the Eternal Life to all corners of the world. The same teaching reached, unaltered, to our times, and is maintained in the Lord’s Church. Thus, abandoning their fishing boats, the Apostles became sailors on the Vessel of Salvation, inviting all people to come aboard and sail under the guidance of God.
The Gospel reading also shows that the people called to apostolic mission never promote themselves, but serve God under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Church members do not interpret the Gospel according to their own understanding, but always follow the teaching of Christ preserved in the Church Tradition.
The Sunday service marked the first week of the Apostles’ Fast, inviting the church members to confession and communion with Christ in the Divine Liturgy.
