Sunday, 6 June 2021, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau.
The Sunday Gospel Reading (John 9: 1-38) speaks about a blind-born man healed by Lord Jesus Christ on a Sabbath day. Holy Evangelist John mentions that the Pharisees blamed Jesus for healing on Sabbath and breaking the law that prohibited any work on the sixth day. The Gospel shows that the healed man had better spiritual sight than those called to guide and enlighten people. Thus, the dialogue between the blind-born man and the Pharisees shows that the latter were spiritually blind, refusing to recognize the Messiah in the person of Lord Jesus.
During the Service, Metropolitan Vladimir officiated diaconal ordination of Ghenadie Verbulschi, first-year student of Chisinau Theological Academy.
With the blessing of the hierarch, archpriest Vadim Cheibas, the Cathedral Dean, delivered a message of pastoral guidance, calling the Christians to follow the example of faith of the healed man and stand in the light of the teaching of Lord Jesus Christ.
Liturgical responses during the Liturgy were provided by the Cathedral’s Choir directed by Angela Angheni.
