Venerable Mary of Egypt is a model of repentance and improvement of life according to the Evangelical teaching. It shows to the world that there are no sins that cannot be forgiven to one who shows true repentance and decides follow Christ for the rest of own life, into the life eternal.
St. Mary lived as a sinner since very young age, but encountering Christ, she abandoned all sinful habits and went into the Egyptian dessert, where she lived in prayer and ascetic doing till hear physical death. Her spiritual ascension impressed many of her contemporaries, monks of very rough and ascetic habits, and became known to the entire world. Her model of repentance and virtuous life determined the Holy Fathers to dedicate her of the Sundays of Great Lent, inspiring Christians to follow her example.
During the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir officiated diaconal ordination of Theology student Mihail Dubic.
Liturgical responses were provided by the Cathedral Choir directed by Angela Angheni.
