  • The Feast of Annunciation – the joy of the heaven and earth – celebrated at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Lord

His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the Feast of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in the Metropoltian Cathedral in Chisinau.

The the Annunciation of the Mother of God and Ever-Virgin Mary is a sublime holiday that unites Heavenly powers with the people and is celebrated by the Church as the beginning of our salvation.

Wednesday, 7 April 2021, church-goers came to the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral to participate in the Divine Liturgy celebrated by Metropolitan Vladimir and the clergy of the holy shrine, honouring the Feast of the Annunciation of Ever-Virgin Mary.

The liturgical community prayed for peace and health, for good will and understanding between people, and for the blessing of the Lord.

During the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir ordained deacon Andrei Potoraca into priesthood. 3rd year Theology student Ioan Silnic was ordained deacon for the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Addressing the pastoral message to the liturgical community, the priests advised the church-goers to continue fasting, in prayer and spiritual purity.

The Annunciation is joy of heaven and earth. The first word that Archangel Gabriel addressed to Virgin Mary was “Rejoice!” Indeed, after initial moments of trouble and astonishment, due to unexpected message, and having understandood that the herald came with the power of God (for the name of Gabriel means “my power is God”), Ever-Virgin Mary was replenished with unspoken joy. The power of God overshadowed her in the moment when the Archangel addressed to her: “Rejoice, the highly favoured one!”
