A crucifix was inaugurated on Sunday, 15th September 2019, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the participation of H.E. Metropolitan Vladimir, who was accompanied by the metropolitan secretary, archpriest Vadim Cheibas.
The Minister of Internal Affairs Andrei Nastase said in the ceremony inauguration message that this event is a call for unity in a fragmented society such as in the Republic of Moldova.
“In a society often so fragmented as in the Republic of Moldova, moments of unity, of communion, are especially valuable. I am glad and honoured that inside the ministry, in the presence of those who pastor our ancestral faith in this land, we can communicate a message of unity that reminds all those working in the structures of the MIA that the army is Christian” – said Andrei Nastase.
Metropolitan Vladimir came up with a congratulation message during the event closure, mentioning:
“Cross is our spiritual arm against all evil, for our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified, sanctifying it with His precious blood.
Being present here, we are glad to be aware that this crucifix will remind from now on to the staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, about their belonging to the Orthodox Christian faith, and those who daily pass near this crucifix will make the sine of the cross and thank God for all His mercy.
We thank the Minister of Internal Affairs Andrei Nastase for this noble initiative, that is worthy of being followed by other state institutions”.
In the end, Metropolitan Vladimir presented the minister of Internal Affairs with a cross brought from Jerusalem and sanctified at the tomb of our Lord Jesus Christ, while each staff member of the Ministry received a pectoral cross in sign of arch-pastoral blessing.
