  • Metropolitan Vladimir participated in the ordinary session of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church

    Friday, 30 August 2019, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russian chaired the session of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Patriarchal and Synodal Residence at the St. Daniel Monastery in Moscow. This has been the 60th session of the Holy Synod since the beginning of the patriarchal ministry of Patriarch Kirill.

    Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova participated in the session as Permanent Member of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.

    The key decisions of the Holy Synod were announced by Vladimir Legoida, Chairman of the Synodal Department of Relations with the Society and Mass-Media.

    Participants of the session expressed their opinions in relation to the appointment of arch-pastors for dioceses abroad and for the appointment of new members of the Supreme Church Council.

    The Holy Synod approved the decisions of the Archbishop’s Council of the Russian Orthodox Church outside Russia, related to the election of archimandrite Alexandr (Bely) for the ordination into the dignity of bishop of Miami and Vicar of Eastern American Diocese, and archimandrite Iakob (Corazza) for the ordination into the dignity of bishop of Sonor and Vicar of Western American Diocese.

    The Synod members adopted the decision of dismissing archbishop Ambrose of Vereia from the position of Rector of Moscow Theological Academy and appointing him Rector of the Meeting of the Lord theological seminary. Bishop Pitirim of Dushanbe was appointed Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy.

    Upon the closure of the session of the Holy Synod, commemoration litany was officiated at the chapel of All Saints who Shone in the Lands of Russia, in the memory of archbishop Pantelimon (Romanovski) who chaired the Diocese of Kirovograd of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in 1988-2011.
