On the 6th Sunday after the Resurrection of Christ, Sunday that commemorates the healing of the blind-born man, Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the central Cathedral in the capital of the country.
Numerous church-goers gathered to share liturgical prayers with the first hierarch of the Moldovan Church and the Cathedral clergy.
The Gospel Reading speaks about the healing of a man who was born blind. Asked by the disciples whether the blind man or his parents sinned for he was born blind, Lord Jesus Christ told them that the cause of that infirmity was not sin, but it was so, “that the works of God should be revealed in him” (John 9: 3).
The healed man proved not only physical soundness, but also spiritual sight, for he proclaimed Lord Jesus a prophet and Son of God, which the Pharisees who were physically sound could not see in their spiritual blindness.
After the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Vladimir visited a sales exhibition of handmade pieces of art produced by persons detained in penitentiaries, organized in the Cathedral Square. Half of the funds raised during the exhibition is intended to be donated for the treatment of children affected by cancer at the Oncology Hospital in Chisinau.
