The 12th Session of the World Congress of Families was inaugurated in the Palace of the Republic in Chisinau, under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Igor Dodon.
Around 2000 persons, high-rank politicians, representatives of religious confessions arrived from a number of countries, confirmed their presence at the forum.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova, the Orthodox Church of Moldova was represented by a number of its Bishops: H.E. Anatolie of Cahul and Comrat, H.G. Petru of Ungheni and Nisporeni, Vicar Bishops, H.G. Ioan of Soroca and H.G. Siluan of Orhei, Metropolitan Secretary, archpriest Vadim Cheibas, and a number of other clergymen. In addition, a delegation from the Patriarchy of Moscow and all Russia arrived to participate in the Congress.
His Grace Vicar Bishop Ioan of Soroca greeted the members of the Congress on behalf of Metropolitan Vladimir, who is currently participating in the extraordinary session of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church in Moscow.
“In order to maintain and multiply the importance of the traditional family model, it is important to give support to young generation starting their way as a family, families with 3 and more children and families living in poverty, purposefully seeking to improve the quality of their lives. Conducting The World Congress of Families of 2018 in the Republic of Moldova will allow the world community, which promotes the natural development of relations and seeks international recognition for the measures taken, to eliminate the demographic crisis in the country, raising social indicators and the acknowledgement of the issue.” – is stated in the official page of the World Congress of Families.
