15 July 2018, on the 7th Sunday after the Pentecost, Metropolitan of Chisinau and all Moldova, along with other members of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, participating in the commemoration events of 100 years since the murder of the Romanov family. Thus, Metropolitan Vladimir concelebrated to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia during the Divine Liturgy and consecration of the church of Fyodorovskaya Icon of the Mother of God at the New Martyrs’ Monastery in Alapayevsk.
The synaxis of arch-pastors, presided by Patriarch Kirill, visited the monastery of Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church in Kamenets Diocese, built near the Nizhne-Selimskaya Mine, where the Alapayev martyrs: great princess Elisaveta Fyodorovna Romanova, nun Barbara (Yakovleva), great prince Sergey Mihaylovich, princes from the royal family Ioann, Konstantin, and Igor Konstantinovich, prince Vladimir Paley, and Fyodor Remez, were thrown alive on the night of 18 July 1918.
Patriarch Kirill officiated the great consecration of the newly-built church in honour of Fyodorovskaya Icon of the Mother of God on the territory of the monastery, followed by the Divine Liturgy in the newly-consecrated church. The construction works started in 2008, and were finished in 10 years, to mark one century’s commemoration of the martyrdom of nuns-martyrs Elisabeth and Barbara. The mine into which the Alapayev Martyrs were thrown is situated right beyond the Altar wall of the new church.
The church preserves a shrine with particles of relics of nun-martyr Elisabeth, brought from the Martha and Mary sisterhood established by Saint Elisabeth in Moscow.
