Sunday, 22 April 2018, on the day of Myrrh-bearing Women, the Christians gathered in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral participated in the Divine Liturgy celebrated by Vicar Bishop Ioan of Soroca, with the blessing of Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and Moldova.
Metropolitan Vladimir prayed together with the clergy in the holy Altar.
Bishop Ioan was assisted during the service by the Cathedral Dean, archpriest Vadim Cheibas, and the clergy of the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral.
The Myrrh-bearing Women were the ones who followed Lord Jesus Christ and His Disciples, and the ones who remained with Christ even when He was abandoned by the Apostles for the fear of Jewish persecutions. They came to the tomb where the Lord’s body had been laid, and where greeted by an Angel who told them that the Lord was not there, for He had risen (Mark 16, 6).
Commemorating the Myrrh-bearing Women, together with righteous Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea, the Orthodox Church celebrates the day of all Christian women and all those who dedicate their lives to Christian ministry.
