On the Second Sunday of the Great Lent, the Sunday of St. Gregory Palamas, with the blessing of Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova, the Divine Service in the Metropolitan Cathedral was celebrated by Vicar Bishop Ioan of Soroca, assisted by the Cathedral clergy
During the Liturgy, deacon Grigore Obertun received priesthood ordination and was appointed to church ministry in the parish of Maramonovca, Drochia region.
In the guidance message after the Service, Bishop Ioan talked about the life and theology of St. Gregory Palamas, mentioning that he was “a prayerful monastic and as an erudite theologian, played a very important role in the defense of the Orthodox faith. Bishop Ioan urged the church-goers to follow the true faith and experience the true fast, in order to collect the spiritual fruit of this ascetic doing of prayer and charity.
Numerous believers, including a big number of children, communed with the Body and Blood of Christ.
The following Sunday will mark the middle of the Great Lent and will commemorate the Holy Cross of the Lord.
