  • The translation into Romanian of Mark Popovsky’s book “Life and Hagiography of Voino-Iasenetsky, archbishop and surgeon” was inaugurated at Chisinau State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics

17 May 2018, on the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord, Mark Popovsky’s book “Life and Hagiography of Voino-Iasenetsky, archbishop and surgeon” was presented at Chisinau State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics. The book was translated from Russian into Romanian by archpriest Vasile Ciobanu.

Present at the event were Academician Gheorghe Ghidirim, Dr. Gheorghe Rojnoveanu, Prorector for Scientific Activity at the SUMF, Dr. Emil Ceban, Prorector for Clinical Activity at the SUMF, priests, professors, students, and a delegation of Romanian National Association of the Cult of Heroes “Queen Mary” conducted by historian Eugen Petrescu.

At the event inauguration, the choral ensemble “Gnosis”, directed by Serghei Crudu, intoned hymns dedicated to Holy Hierarch Luke, Archbishop of Crimea.

Greeting the audience, Vicar Bishop Ioan of Soroca communicated the archpastoral blessings of Metropolitan Vladimir, and talked about the prominent personality of St. Luke.

We can only wonder of this saint’s spiritual nobility. Bishop Luke overcame calumny, suffering, incredible life experiences, exhausting judiciary processes, imprisonments, tortures, deportations, enduring them with great simplicity, trust in the will of God, mentioned Vicar Bishop Ioan.
