  • The Feast of the Holy Hierarch Gavriil, Metropolitan of Chisinau and Hotin, celebrated at the monastery of Capriana

3 September, 2018. The Feast of the Holy Hierarch Gavriil, Metropolitan of Chisinau and Hotin, was celebrated at the historical monastery of Capriana.

The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the First Hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, Metropolitan Vladimir.

Concelebrating to the metropolitan were bishops Nicodim of Edinet and Briceni, Abrosy of Neftekamsk and Oktyabrsk, vicar bishops Ioan of Soroca and Siluan of Orhei.

The arch-pastors were assisted at the Divine Service by archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Secretary of the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, archimandrite Filaret (Cuzmin), monk superior of Capriana Monastery, and numerous priests and deacons.

After the Liturgy, a thanks-giving Te-Deum service was officiated, followed by the arch-pastoral message of Metropolitan Vladimir, who mentioned:

“The holy hierarch Gavriil Banulescu-Bodoni was called by God to outstanding spiritual life. He was the light that shone for the glory of God, illuminating and warming the hearts of people. His vocation continues to be a model worth being followed by arch-pastors, priests, monastics, and laity. This call is addressed to us all, urging us to follow our Lord Jesus Christ”, underlined the first hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Moldova in the guidance message.

Archimandrite Filaret (Cuzmin), monk superior of the Monastery of Capriana, thanked all archpastors, priests, guests, and lay Christians for the shared prayers at the shrine with the relics of St. Gavriil, who laid the foundation of the diocese of Chisinau and Hotin.
