  • The Eighth Sunday after Pentecost, at the Metropolitan Nativity of the Lord Cathedral

On the 8th Sunday after Pentecost, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Metropolitan Cathedral was celebrated by His Grace Vicar Bishop Ioan of Soroca.

Over a hundred of Marine veterans wearing uniformed prayed at the Icon of Fyodor Ushakov (Russian Admiral, beatified by the Russian Orthodox Church as the heavenly protector of seamen). Following a recent tradition, Moldovan Marine veterans unite in prayer at St. Fiodor Ushakov’s icon with particle of relics, on the last Sunday of July.

The Sunday’s Gospel Reading speaks about the miracle of multiplication of five loaves and two fishes by Lord Jesus Christ (Mt. 14, 14-22). This Gospel fragment reflects our Lord’s care for the entire humanity, but also teaches us that faith is the cornerstone of any miraculous salvation, and that a faithful person will never be abandoned by God.

It also teaches us to be thankful to God and share with our neighbour, as there will always be enough for all.

In his arch-pastoral guidance, Vicar Bishop Ioan greeted the faithful on behalf of Metropolitan Vladimir who is currently participating in events preceding and following the Feast of St. Vladimir, Baptizer of Rus, praying along with Patriarch Kirill and numerous arch-pastors and pastors in the Cathedral of Kronshtadt, Russia.
