  • The 22nd Sunday after Pentecost, at the Metropolitan Cathedral

On the 22nd Sunday after Pentecost, 5th November 2017, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau.

The Metropolitan was assisted at the Divine Service by archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Cathedral Dean and Metropolitan Secretary, and priests and deacons of the holy shrine, who prayed along with numerous church-goers gathered for Holy Communion.

The Sunday’s Gospel Reading reminds us about the merciless and witless rich man and poor Lazarus (Luke 16, 19-31). The Holy Scripture says that both of them died, but the Lazarus who suffered from hunger and illness during life on earth, received peace and soothing in the Abraham’s bosom, while the rich man came to suffer from torments in hades, and there was no way for him to soothe his pain in the eternal flame. This parable comes to teach us that we should seek Heavenly Kingdom and prove our love of God by good acts, charity and mercy to our neighbour, if we want to be with God in the Heaven.

After the Divine Liturgy, thanks-giving prayers were uttered, and the liturgical community was dismissed in peace.
