Monday, 21 May 2018, Metropolitan Vladimir visited the community of Lozova, Straseni region, to join the celebrations in the memory of ever-commemorated Metropolitan Nestor Vornicescu of Oltenia (1927-2000) in his home community.

On the 90th anniversary of the birth of this prominent figure and arch-pastor of the Orthodox Church, a series of projects were initiated to immortalize the memory of Metropolitan Nestor in his place of birh, Lozova.

Thus, the mayoralty of Lozova, in cooperation with the Romanian National Association of the Cult of Heroes, held symposiums, exhibitions, organized pilgrimages, round table discussions, and cultural activities with researchers and artists from Moldova and Romania.

The hierarch’s bust was inaugurated in the centre of Lozova community in the eve of the local parish’s Patron Feast of St. Nicholas (9/22 may).

Monday, 21 May, a synaxis of priests headed by Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova, arrived to participate in the inauguration and consecration ceremony in front of the community mayoralty.

“This is the metropolitan’s coming back home”, said Traian Duța, the sculptor of the bust.

Metropolitan Vladimir eulogized the personality of Metropolitan Nestor Vornicescu, arch-pastor and member of the Romanian Academy and Academy of Science of Moldova, a prominent scholar and exceptional missionary.

Community Mayor Lilian Botnaru and Mr. Eugen Petrescu, Chairman of the Romanian National Association of the Cult of Heroes “Queen Mary” spoke about joint cultural projects under implementation, and thanked all participants for their contribution.

Archpriest Petru Croitor, the rector of Lozova parish, mentioned that prominent figures like Metropolitan Nestor Vornicescu help us to remain in the hearth of our mother Church, spiritually united with our ancestors.
