  • Joint charity event involving the Municipal Department for the Protection of the Rights of Children, and Sector 1 Chisinau Church Deanery

Great Lent especially calls us to charity and care for those who are in disease and difficulty. Thus, in the height of the Lent, the deanery of Chisinau church district number 1 held a series of joint activities with Chisinau central district Municipal Department for the Protection of Children

Two weeks ago the representatives of both institutions met to discuss their collaboration, and on the 9th of April the first charity activity was held. The event took place in the festivities hall of Central sector administration, where about 35 beneficiaries of the Department participated. Inaugurating the activity, father dean, Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, and a group of priests representing the deanery, officiated a Te-Deum service and blessed the Christians present.

Father Vadim then came up with a message of spiritual guidance, referring to disease and suffering as part of our life, and the duty of every Christian to help socially-vulnerable families. Father Vadim expressed the intention of the church deanery – that includes over 20 parishes – to provide assistance to families with bed-ridden children, as well as other families that need help.

It was proposed to hold joint activities – a festival of Paschal music, pilgrimage to monasteries, religion-related contests.

Mrs. Lidia Stefanet, Head of Department, cordially thanked the priests present at the activity, for loving attitude and devotion to the beneficiaries of their institution, mentioning that these families need much spiritual guidance.

In the end, sets of food products were distributed to 35 families raising children with disabilities.

A number of parishes participated in this event – the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Nativity of the Lord, The Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Lord, St. Nicholas, St. Pantelimon, All Saints, the Meeting of the Lord, and St. Haralambios churches – all of them grouped in Sector 1 Chisinau Church Deanery.
