  • Holy Prince Stefan the Great, celebrated at the Metropolitan Cathedral

Saturday, 15th July 2017, on the day of commemoration of Holy Prince Stefan the Great, the Archpastor of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Nativity of the Lord Cathedral in Chisinau

Vicar Bishop Ioan of Soroca, Metropolitan Secretary, Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, and an assembly of priests and deacons, concelebrated to the Metropolitan during the service.

Numerous church-goers gathered in the holy shrine to give glory to God and pray to the athlete of Christ, St. Stefan the Great.

President Igor Dodon, state and military officials and veterans, joined the praying community.

After the Divine Liturgy and Thanks-Giving service, the praying assembly followed Metropolitan Vladimir and Bishop Ioan in procession from the Cathedral to the Monument of St. Stefan the Great in the centre of Chisinau, where flowers were laid and messages of spiritual and civic guidance were delivered.

Holy Prince Stefan the Great devoted all his life to the prosperity of faith and people of Moldova. He exhibited abnegated love for the country and for the Church, fighting amidst his warriors for the independence of medieval Moldova and for the Orthodox faith of its people. His personal example inspired the noble and simple people to love the country and give their own lives for the independence and prosperity of the coming generations, a principle that, unfortunately, is so easily abandoned in our days.
