  • Holy Monastery of Chistelnita – rebirth through prayer and sacrifice

Monday, 2nd October 2017, H.E. Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and all Moldova made a canonical visit to the Monastery of Chistelnita, Telenesti region, to consecrate the church of Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel.

The holy shrine was almost completely renovated after a devastating fire two years ago.

Metropolitan Vladimir was assisted in the Divine Liturgy by Archimandrite Serafim (Prinos), the monk superior of the Monastery of Chistelnita, archpriest Marian Boldescu, Dean of Telenesti church circumscription, and a synax of priests from the neighbouring parishes.

After the Divine Service, the Metropolitan mentioned that the disastrous fire on 30th April 2015 came as punishment of the Lord and appeared as an impulse for the Christians to wake up and unite in prayer. “Then we appealed to the clergy and to the laity, to unite our forces and restore the Holy Monastery of Chistelnita – an appeal that was heard by the faithful flock, and with the help of the Lord, during these two years we managed to demonstrate that we can be wise and united, we can mobilize and prove capacity to act, which is natural to a society with Christian verticality”, said Metropolitan Vladimir.

In sign of the Arch-pastor’s appreciation of immense efforts for the capital renovation of the church that suffered after fire, the monk superior of the Monastery, Archimandrite Serafim (Prinos), was rewarded with the Church Order of Holy Hierarch Gavriil Banulescu-Bodoni, degree II.

A Thanks-giving service was officiated after the Divine Liturgy, after which Metropolitan Vladimir thanked all ctitors and donors who actively participated in the refurbishment and embellishment of the church.
