On the 19th November, after the Divine Liturgy celebrated in Zaim parish, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, followed by the con-celebrating clergy, visited the Home-Museum “Alexei Mateevici” in the community.
The guests were greeted by the director of the Museum, Mr. Ion Gaina, and by numerous parishioners of Zaim community.
The Metropolitan made small gifts – books and calendars – to all those present at the event, saying: “We a very pleased to have this opportunity of visiting the home-museum of Alexei Mateevici. This is a place with very special spiritual atmosphere. We congratulate Mr. Ion Gaina and all the organizers of this museum, as well as all persons who visit this place with thankfulness, respect, and appreciation, to commemorate our great patriot who loved Christ, the Church, our people and our motherland”.
There are six rooms in the museum. Three of them have permanent exhibitions: the chamber with the bust of the priest-poet, the chamber “I sing”, and the chamber “Our language”. The other three chambers are memorial rooms: the room of the parents, the room of the children, and the library of Mateevici family. The objects that belonged to the poet’s family still bear the breathing of the era, and any noice makes you feel that the door will just open, and the young seminarist Alexei Mateevici will come in.
In the end of the visit His Eminence thanked the director, Mr. Ion Gaina, for hospitality and historical information offered, and wished everybody to preserve with reverence this cultural and spiritual heritage.
