The foundation stone was laid of St. Hierarch Basil the Great church to be built in Ialoveni town’s Moldova neighborhood.
The Divine Service was celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, assisted by a group of priests of Ialoveni church circumscription headed by Mitred Archpriest Anatolie Stefanov.
Head of Ialoveni raion, Mr. Nicolae Andronachi, Mayor of Ialoveni town, Mr. Gheorghe Caracuian, as well as ctitors and numerous local church-goers were present at the event.
The rector of the church to be built, Mitred Archpriest Dumitru Damian, told our reporter: “The need of building a church in this sector of Ialoveni town has appeared long ago. There are over 400 households in this neighborhood. Thus, we believe that the saint patron of this area, Saint Basil the Great, will be a fervent prayer and intercessor before the Lord, helping us to implement this God-pleasing idea, and that very soon the church will be erected and sanctified, for the spiritual joy of our parishioners”.
MetropolitanVladimirencouraged this beautiful initiative, mentioning that he would monitor and support the building of this holy shrine.
Father Anatolie Stefanov, district dean, announced that currently there are 34 parishes headed by 35 priests in present in Ialoveni district, and that other 7 church buildings are under construction.
