  • Divine Liturgy in the church of St. Nicholas in Basarabeasca community, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Cahul and Comrat Diocese foundation

    Cahul and Comrat Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Moldova celebrates its 20th anniversary since foundation. Two decades ago, on 17th July 1998, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church decided to establish the Diocese of Cahul and Causeni, later renamed into Diocese of Cahul and Comrat.

    The celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the foundation of Cahul and Comrat Diocese started on Sunday, 9 September 2018, at 8.45, when the liturgical community gathered in the Church of Se. Nicholas in Basarabeasca greeted His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir, arrived to celebrate the Divine Liturgy.

    Concelebrating to Metropolitan Vladimir were His Eminence Sava, Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubasari, His Grace Anatolie, Bishop of Cahul and Comrat, His Grace Petru, Bishop of Ungheni and Nisporeni, His Grace Nicodim, Bishop of Edinet and Briceni, His Grace Bishop Dionisie (Constantinov), currently retired, Vicar Bisop – His Grace Ioan of Soroca and His Grace Siluan of Orhei. The episcopal synaxis were assisted at the service by Archpriest Vadim Cheibas, Secretary of the Synod of the OCM, and numerous priests and deacons.

    Present at the Divine Service were President Igor Dodon with the spouse, Baskan of Gagauzia autonomy, Mrs. Irina Vlah, President of Basarabeasca Region, Mr. Petru Puscari.

    In the grandeur of the Divine Service, deacon Constantin Pituscan was ordained priest and appointed to ministry in the community of Straisieni, Bacioi, Chisinau municipality.

    After Thanks-Giving prayers, Metropolitan Vladimir delivered a message of congratulation to Bishop Anatolie, on the 20th anniversary of the foundation of Cahul and Comrat Diocese and on His Grace’s episcopal service.

    Bishop Anatolie was awarded the 1st Degree Order of St. Petru Movila, while the main ctitor of the St. Nicholas Church in Basarabeasca, Mr. Vladimir Caraiani, was distinguished with the order of Church Merit.

    Bishop Anatolie thanked the Metropolitan and the liturgical community for shared prayers and Christian love.
